What’s on Radio 2 this New Year’s Eve?

BBC Radio 2 has a huge lineup of shows, playing the best music from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s this New Year’s Eve, kicking off the build up to 2024 from 1pm.

At 1pm, Tony Blackburn has the Sounds of the 60’s. Then from 3pm, Johnnie Walker has the Sounds of the 70’s with a very special party playlist.

The ‘Sounds Of’ New Year’s Eve celebrations continue from 5pm with Gary Davies and a bumper three-hour edition of Sounds Of The 80s, live from the BBC’s Mailbox studios in Birmingham. Expect wall-to-wall 80s classics to take you back as we look forward to 2024…

Gary says “As we all know there’s no better music to party to than 80s music – so as we get ready to welcome in 2024 join me for 3 hours of party tunes to get the celebrations underway!”

At 8pm, New Year’s Eve Party Sounds of the 90s with Owain Wyn Evans.

Michelle Visage is up at 9pm. There’s only one way to see out the old and bring in the new this New Year’s Eve and that is with Michelle Visage who will be playing the most fabulous party anthems that no year should start – or close – without.

Coming live from Studio City in Los Angeles, the hostess with the mostest, Michelle Visage, is bringing non-stop classic floor fillers from the likes of Madonna, ABBA, S Club 7, Daft Punk, Dolly Parton, Queen and more, guaranteed to fill you with optimism for the year ahead. Email michelle.visage@bbc.co.uk or text 88-2-91 (standard rates apply) and tell her all about how you’re celebrating on the night.

From 1am, Angela Griffin has a special relaxing mix of music to help ease you into the new near.

On New Year’s Day, Madonna fans can hear Scott Mills count down the star’s biggest hits as voted for by listeners and then Madonna at the BBC reflects on the pop icon’s career.
