Nicolas Winding Refn (byNWR) and Matthew Read (Moonage Pictures) breathe new life into Enid Blyton’s timeless classics, offering a contemporary and revitalized interpretation of these iconic tales.

“The Famous Five” introduces a group of five audacious young explorers who embark on thrilling escapades filled with perilous challenges, captivating mysteries, unprecedented hazards, and astonishing revelations.

In the inaugural episode, titled ‘The Curse of Kirrin Island,’ George’s world takes a dramatic turn when she discovers that her cousins will be spending the summer with her. As Julian, Dick, and Anne join her, an unexpectedly exhilarating adventure unfolds.

Upon the discovery of a washed-up body on the beach, seemingly a victim of a local curse, the cousins, along with their loyal canine companion Timmy, set sail to investigate the root cause—an uninhabited island belonging to the family.

Exploring a subterranean chapel protected by a lethal booby trap, they stumble upon a goblet whose engraving strongly hints at the existence of a lost hoard of Knights Templar treasure. However, the Five are not alone in their quest, as ruthless antiquarian Thomas Wentworth and his associate Monsieur Boswell are hot on their trail.

As the race for the treasure intensifies, with Wentworth and his accomplice one step ahead, the question looms: Can the kids reach the cursed treasure before their adversaries do? And if Wentworth’s claims about its true power hold true, what lies ahead for them?

The cast includes Diaana Babnicova as George, Elliott Rose as Julian, Kit Rakusen as Dick, Flora Jacoby Richardson as Anne, Jack Gleeson as Wentworth, Ann Akinjirin as Fanny, James Lance as Quentin, and Diana Quick as Mrs. Wentworth.

“The Famous Five” is a BBC production in collaboration with German ZDF and in association with The Mediapro Studio for Spain, Portugal, and Latin America. BBC Studios is handling the international distribution of the series.
