Humax TV Tonight: Death in Paradise returns for a new series

Lost In Paradise is on BBC One and iPlayer tonight at 9pm

Embarking on a nostalgic journey through Commissioner Selwyn Patterson’s illustrious 50-year police service, the celebratory atmosphere at the Yacht Club takes a harrowing turn when an unforeseen event unfolds. In a shocking twist, Commissioner Patterson is shot and swiftly rushed to the hospital. Adding to the intrigue is the revelation that the assailant’s identity is known, or is it?

Despite the emotional turmoil, the investigative team puts personal sentiments aside, launching an intense pursuit to apprehend the alleged shooter. However, as they delve into the background of the assailant, perplexity sets in. The individual seems to have no discernible connection to Commissioner Patterson, leaving the team questioning the motive behind the attempt on his life.

As the investigation progresses, a tapestry of hidden truths and deceit unravels within the confines of the Yacht Club. Could one of Commissioner Patterson’s close associates be culpable for the shooting? Alternatively, suspicions arise regarding Marlon Collins, a reformed yacht thief turned Yacht Club manager with an ironic twist of fate. In the process of connecting the dots, Detective Neville discovers that the case is far more intricate than it initially seemed, challenging the team’s understanding of the events that transpired.

Speaking about returning to the series, Ralf Little said: “Episode sixty nine was my first as DI Neville Parker, which is (almost) 7/10ths of the way to one hundred. So, the bulk of it was already there. But the idea that I’d be able to do another thirty one episodes on top of that to reach one hundred is astonishing. If I’m really honest, I was just hoping to get to the end of the first series and for everybody not to hate it. Everything after that was a bonus!

At the risk of sounding like a footballer going, “It’s all about the team”, these personal milestones are lovely to reach and they’re incredibly satisfying. But it is all about the show, the people loving it and everyone working together. For me to have been here and be lucky enough to lead a stellar cast and be trusted with this legacy is something I can’t believe. I thank my lucky stars every day and feel like I’ve won the lottery”.

Taj Miles, who plays Officer Marlon Pryce says: “It’s an honour to be a part of a show that’s been on TV for so long and has such a devoted audience. You’re always waiting for the big numbers, the tenth series, the 100th episode, the first Christmas special, and I was part of all three. Each milestone has been getting bigger and bigger, so to be a part of the 100th episode is amazing. I didn’t even know it was until we got the script and I saw it on the front. It was brilliant and you could feel on set that it was a special one”.

Don’t miss the episode tonight at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
