Best TV Tonight: Style It Out

Style It Out might be a CBBC show, but there’s plenty for grown ups to enjoy here too.

Brand new Style It Out for CBBC, presented by Emma Willis, will see nine creative fashion-loving kids compete in a styling contest with sustainability at its core, all hoping to win the chance to showcase their original designs at London Fashion Week. Over 10 episodes, they will be using pre-loved clothes, vintage, and second-hand and rescued materials, to upcycle and embellish their fabulous outfits. Celebrating their individuality and imagination they will be able to let their creativity fly.

Style It Out’s ‘Seam Team’ – six professional seamstresses from the film, tv and theatre industry – will be on hand to help bring the designs to life, and expert advice and guidance will come from our resident judges who include stylists Ayishat Akanbi and Jorge Antonio, as well as a weekly celebrity judge from Gok Wan or Katya Jones, through to Donel or Meesha Garbett, to name a few. Through the contest our young designers will challenge the rules of fashion and traditional stereotypes, create cool clothes for all shapes and sizes, and learn more about sustainability and recycling.

Each week the contestants will go head-to-head and compete in a number of challenges, from a big styling task – creating a red-carpet outfit, for example, through to a smaller customisation challenge which viewers at home can also enjoy. Adding to the fun is that they might find themselves designing for their teacher, their nan, or even a celebrity. Weekly themes will add to the artistic endeavour as our designers might be faced with a spooky theme, or have to make everything about Prom, or bring the animal world onto the catwalk.

Two contestants will win a spot in the final, and one wild card will join them, ensuring it will be a hotbed of originality and resourcefulness as the final three compete to come up with the two most amazing sustainable and creative outfits and win that place at London Fashion Week.

The Style It Out winner’s story continues as they get to be part of a real-world fashion event and showcase their design. Viewers will glimpse behind-the-scenes and enjoy all the glamour, drama and excitement of a London Fashion Week catwalk show, with Style It Out’s winner as it’s star designer.
