Watch the trailer for Wicked which sent fans wild at Superbowl

The trailer for upcoming movie Wicked dropped at Superbowl, sending fans into a frenzy!

After captivating audiences for two decades as a cherished stage production, Wicked finally makes its highly anticipated leap to the silver screen this holiday season, promising a spectacular cinematic experience that will define a generation.

Wicked, the enchanting tale of the misunderstood witches of Oz, features Emmy, Grammy, and Tony-winning powerhouse Cynthia Erivo (known for her roles in “Harriet” and Broadway’s “The Color Purple”) as Elphaba, a young woman with green skin whose true power is yet to be discovered, and Grammy-winning, multi-platinum recording artist and global sensation Ariana Grande as Glinda, a privileged and ambitious young woman who has yet to uncover her true heart.

Their paths intertwine as students at Shiz University in the fantastical Land of Oz, forging an unlikely but profound friendship. However, an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz sets them on divergent paths. While Glinda is seduced by power in her pursuit of popularity, Elphaba remains steadfast in her authenticity, leading to unforeseen consequences that shape their futures. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz ultimately see them fulfill their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

The film also features Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh as Shiz University’s regal headmistress Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey as the roguish prince Fiyero, Tony nominee Ethan Slater as the altruistic Munchkin student Boq, Marissa Bode in her feature-film debut as Elphaba’s favored sister Nessarose, and pop culture icon Jeff Goldblum as the legendary Wizard of Oz.

Pfannee and ShenShen, two conniving companions of Glinda, are portrayed by Emmy nominee Bowen Yang and Bronwyn James, while Tony nominee Keala Settle brings a new character, Miss Coddle, to life.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jon M. Chu, Wicked is the first installment of an immersive two-part cultural celebration, with Wicked Part Two set to hit theaters on November 26, 2025.

Produced by Marc Platt and David Stone, with executive producers David Nicksay, Stephen Schwartz, and Jared LeBoff, Wicked is adapted for the screen by Winnie Holzman, the book writer of the stage production, and Stephen Schwartz, the legendary Grammy and Oscar-winning composer and lyricist.

Based on the bestselling novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked is a collaboration between Universal Stage Productions, Marc Platt, the Araca Group, Jon B. Platt, and David Stone, promising to enchant audiences anew with its timeless tale of friendship, identity, and the power of staying true to oneself.
