Prime Video’s The Grand Tour to end, after May, Hammond and Clarkson quit

wheretowatch.tv In a surprising turn of events, motoring enthusiasts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May have quit Prime Video’s acclaimed series, The Grand Tour, bringing it to an end. Launched in 2016, the show quickly gained popularity, solidifying its status as one of the streaming platform’s major hits. However, the trio, aged 63, 60, and 52 respectively, has decided that the time has come to embark on new adventures.

The news comes just days after the BBC announced it was resting Top Gear, the show that united the threesome originally.

While bidding farewell to the iconic motoring series, the departing hosts expressed their support for the possibility of Prime Video continuing the show with fresh faces. According to a source within the television industry, the decision is a significant moment, marking the end of an era for the beloved presenters.

“The Grand Tour has been one of Prime Video’s most-watched shows, and Jeremy, James, and Richard have cultivated a devoted following,” revealed an insider to The Sun. “Despite its popularity, the hosts are unambiguous about the reality of aging and the multitude of other projects they wish to pursue. They felt that the timing was right to conclude the show on a high note.”

The streaming giant is contemplating the prospect of introducing new hosts to carry the torch forward. Meanwhile, fans can still look forward to two remaining episodes of The Grand Tour, set to be released next year, where the trio will explore Mauritania and Zimbabwe. The departing hosts are not bidding adieu to Prime Video entirely, as each is set to embark on individual projects for the platform in the future.
