New Deal or No Deal disappoints viewers

ITV1’s long-awaited reboot of Deal or No Deal launched today, but fans were left disappointed by new version.

The show replaced Tipping Point in the 4-5pm teatime slot, with new presenter Stephen Mulhern at the helm. But viewers were left unimpressed by the reduced jackpot of £100,000 which is far less than the £250,000 Channel 4 offered each episode. Others labelled the episode “unexciting”.

Taking to Social Media, one viewer wrote: “I was so looking forward to watching #StephenMulhern, but sadly I felt the show was just so boring, with no actual excitement. I really like him, and thought he was going to be his usual sarcastic self, but no, and the fun factor was no longer there #DealOrNoDeal

Another complained “Removing the 250k has had the same effect of when they made the million pound drop the 100k drop, you lose so much of the tension and high stakes #dealornodeal

One summed it up saying “I really used to like #DealOrNoDeal but it had run its course by the time it was canned. If you’re bringing it back you need to do something to refresh it, and unfortunately they haven’t. It’s not for me. Some will enjoy it and good luck to you.”.

Other viewers said the show had lost its magic by not having Noel Edmonds as host; “#DealOrNoDeal without Noel Edmonds? No Deal!”.

“Sorry, it’s just not the same anymore Noel Edmonds and the OG show was the deal” wrote one viewer. “#dealornodeal Poundland presenter compared to Noel” added another.

Deal Or No Deal continues weekdays at 4pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
