Review: LavAzza’s Voicy is a steal, on offer at just £99! ★★★★★

icymi, LavAzza’s Voicy is the first coffee machine to be operated by Alexa, and it’s currently just £99 down from £299!

Pros:

• The Alexa element is genius
• The coffee is brilliant
• Very easy to set up
• Excellent size

Cons:

• You can’t pre-load multiple capsules and you have to add your own milk, but neither bothered us at all.

We’ve long been big fans of Nespresso and it would take something very special to pull us away to something new. But that’s exactly what has happened, thanks to the iconic coffee brand LavAzza.

The LavAzza Voicy gets its name from the functionality, which enables you to request Alexa to make you a coffee. No, we’re not joking, your Alexa device really will enable you to make a coffee, just by using your voice.

So here’s how it works. You need to have or create an Alexa account via Amazon, and you’re going to need the Alexa and LavAzza apps on your phone. From there, it’s really simple.

In fact, we set up this thing of beauty in just ten minutes. Out of the box, it is so simple to set up and get using. There’s really nothing to it. Using the LavAzza app, you can create “custom” coffees to your taste. So for example, we set up a coffee and called it ‘large coffee’. Perhaps not so imaginative, but it’s easy to remember!

We were able to set the exact quantity of the coffee – and we’re the type that likes a mug full more than an espresso, that’s what we created. We also set it to be made extra hot, because we like a lot of milk and don’t want to risk our coffees being too cool.

The machine comes with 9 cute little pods for you to try. We’ve tried all of the varieties and love them all. We’ve always known LavAzza to be a good brand but you need to trust as when we tell you these pods are exceptional. And, by comparison, we were paying more than £30 for 50 Nespresso pods, whereas with LavAzza, you get 16 for just £4.99 RRP. That’s an absolute steal. Better still, we can order them via Amazon (even asking Alexa to do it for us!) or, they’re widely available in supermarkets. So no need to wait for DPD to rock up!

You can set up multiple coffee combinations – sizes, and heat, under different names. So, say your mum likes a small Espresso, you can configure it so when you say “Alexa, ask LavAzza to make mum’s coffee”, this magical little machine will just do that.

All you have to do is pop a pod in and leave it there, with a mug underneath – so then, when you next ask Alexa to make your coffee, it will do. Sure, you have to repeat this anytime you want a coffee as the Voicy can’t store multiple pods in it, but we haven’t found that to be an issue. There’s something great about just asking it to make you one, whilst you’re busy doing something else.

Likewise, you have to add your own milk in, but if you’ve programmed it accordingly, Alexa will at least remind you to do that. We recommend buying a LavAzza milk frother.

Brilliantly, because of the Alexa capability this machine gives you a fully working Alexa device built in. That means your coffee machine can tell you the weather, answer questions, give you reminders, play radio stations and music etc, all whilst you’re making your brew.

We honestly couldn’t be more impressed, and right now, the Voicy is retailing for only £99 rather than the usual £299 making it an absolute steal!
