David Lloyd Diaries: Kid’s first time

It’s Summer, the kids are bored and we really don’t want to be spending another £150+ on a day out at a theme park. So how do we keep them entertained?

At the same time, we’re after some us-time and personally, I’m keen to see a transformation from Dad-Bod to Beach bod before an October trip to Ibiza!

This week, we had the pleasure of visiting the David Lloyd Narborough Leisure Club with our two young children for the first time, and let us tell you, it was the most enjoyable experience! As soon as we told them where we were going, they were so enthusiastic and excited.  

Welcoming Atmosphere:

Right from the moment we stepped through the doors of the David Lloyd Narborough Leisure Club, we felt an inviting and warm atmosphere. The friendly staff greeted us with smiles and made us feel right at home, which was especially comforting with little ones in tow.  Despite my many questions (where are the changing rooms? Can we have a towel? How do the lockers work?…) The club’s family-oriented vibe instantly put us at ease, and we knew it was going to be a great day ahead.

Indoor Tennis Fun:

After our very seamless check-in (we didn’t catch the receptionist’s name but she was AMAZING), we found ourselves on an indoor tennis court. The kids absolutely loved it!  After a good ten minutes which saw the tennis balls flying everywhere, a super-helpful guy on the next court – who it transpires, is Head of Racket Sports at the club – threw us some softer balls, which made for some brilliant games that even our six year old could enjoy. 

60 minutes later and amazing memories had been made.

The club provided us with all the necessary equipment, making it easy for us to jump right into our tennis adventure. Our kids had a blast trying out their first swings, and we all enjoyed cheering each other on during friendly matches. Not only did it keep us active, but it also sparked a newfound love for the sport in our little ones who tell us they’re desperate to get back on a court!

Family-Friendly Pools:

When it was time to cool off, we made our way to the indoor and outdoor pools. The kids’ eyes lit up with excitement, and they couldn’t wait to dive in. The indoor pool area was perfect for the little ones, with a separate shallow section where they could splash around safely under our watchful eyes.  Everything was immaculate and felt really smart and modern, meaning the kids felt they were somewhere special.  They loved the outdoor pool, which had the feeling of a holiday club.  Noodles were on-hand for them to play with, and they loved having a game of sinkers, diving down to get the weight.  The pool included a very warm adult-only hot tub, which was a delight, and was surrounded by sun loungers. There was even an outdoor bar, which we can’t wait to utilise next time! 

Top-Notch Facilities:

The facilities at David Lloyd Narborough were nothing short of impressive. Clean and well-maintained family changing rooms made it easy for us to freshen up after a fun-filled day, and the on-site restaurant provided a wide range of delicious and healthy food options. The Chai latte was to die-for, and we can’t check out some of the meals, next time.  We indulged in some post-activity treats, and the kids were especially thrilled with cakes and vegan chocolate bars, which they devoured whilst watching the Women’s World Cup on the big screens. 

Endless Entertainment:

Beyond the tennis courts and pools, David Lloyd Narborough offered an array of entertainment options for families. From the well-equipped gym and fitness classes for the adults to the supervised kids’ play area, there was something for everyone. The children made new friends while participating in various activities, leaving us with time to relax and enjoy a well-deserved break.

Our first experience at David Lloyd Narborough Leisure Club surpassed all expectations and left us enthused to return.  From the warm and welcoming staff to the excellent facilities and family-friendly atmosphere, it’s an exceptional place for families to bond and create lasting memories. Whether you’re an avid tennis enthusiast or simply looking for a fun day out with the kids, we highly recommend giving this incredible leisure club a try. We can’t wait to visit again soon and continue making memories together as a family.
