Ghostbusters Afterlife to air on BBC One

BBC One is to air Ghostbusters Afterlife this Friday night at 7.05pm.

The blockbuster movie is part of the channel’s Easter highlights, which also includes a new Quentin Blake animation and a screening of the original Beauty and the Beast film.

From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe, Ghostbusters: Afterlife. When a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind. The film is written by Gil Kenan & Jason Reitman.

The film stars Paul Rudd and reunites original cast members Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Ivan Reitman, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson.

The film grossed $129.4 million in the United States and Canada, and $75 million in other territories, grossing $204.3 million worldwide making it a moderate success, but was a big enough hit to spawn another new movie, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire which was released in cinemas last week.

In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an army of ghosts that casts a death chill upon the city, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

Watch Ghostbusters: AfterLife this Good Friday at 7.05pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
